 Osteointegration Study Results

 

The aim of this trial was to find the optimal surface treatment for MP1TM screws for best Osteointegration.

Three surface treatments were tested:

  • No treatment
  • Abrasion with SiC
  • Abrasion + Ta deposition by Plasma

Coating and abrasion were tried in order to promote the osteointegration into the bone.

Screws were implanted in rabbits for 4-6 weeks.

Results:

Tensile strength of plucking screws (N.cm) due to osteointegration atfter various implantation times and different surface treatments of MP1TM

Trial 2:

24 screws of 2 designs treated with Abrasion + Ta deposition by Plasma and 24 screws of Ti (control samples) were implanted in sheep bone for 4-12 weeks.

 

Results were excellent (see opinion letter)
